Safari, the Swahili word meaning journey. Join us on an African inspired culinary journey through Cape Town's historical city center.

  • We will sample a variety of African inspired cuisine mixed with some of the best local culinary delights.
  • Enjoy the multicultural city centre as we walk from stop to stop while indulging in dishes like bunny chow, vegetable curry and milk tart.
  • Enjoy tastings from some of Cape Town's hidden gems.
  • As we walk through the city enjoy its architectural styles and influences. Great for photography.
  • Get to meet the local who is responsible for the inner city's culinary scenes.
  • Avoiding the tourist traps we give you a personal look at the city's history and how history influenced our food scene.

Tours run Tuesdays - Saturdays at 2:30 pm.

Tour ends in Wale Street.

What to Expect

Eat, Drink & Explore Cape Town_Guided Culinary Tour

On this culinary journey, you will be immersed in African cuisine mixed with some of the best local food. Along with the vibrant history of the City Centre, you will learn more about the migrants that made this great city their home. We take you on a Food Safari that stretches from Tanzania to Ethiopia. You will also be treated to a Senegalese coffee presentation. Our final stops will include more traditional Capetonian food and drink. The tour starts on Strand Street and will be moving through the city ending with a delicious wine tasting.

Where to Meet

The tour meets in the City Centre. We suggest arriving approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. Exact Meeting Point location and directions will be provided upon ticket purchase.

Imagine walking through Cape Town eating our local artisans most delicious foods while learning the neighborhoods from real locals. Let us show you how easy it is to fall in love with Cape Town!

We do our best to accommodate your dietary and allergy needs. As long as we are given advance notice at the time you book your experience, we can arrange for alternative tastings. At this time, we are unable to accommodate vegan and gluten-free diets. You are absolutely more than welcome to join us on the tour, just keep in mind that there may be some tastings that you may have to avoid. Should you have any questions, please reach out to our operations team directly.

Our experiences are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. However, we advise to check the weather conditions for your days event and dress appropriately.  If we believe the weather will significantly jeopardize the quality of your experience, we will offer you plenty of notice in the event of a cancellation.

We can accommodate a variety of special requests (family reunions, birthday parties, out of town guests, corporate, conventions, festivals, grand openings and more). Please, note that a min of 2 weeks notice is required.

There is a min of 2 alcohol tastings on each of our walking food tours.
